Communications Training Officer

Reports to:  FLWG/A6DC – Director of Communication

Unit:  SER-FL-001

Reviewing Official:  A6, Chief of Staff

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement communications plans, programs, and directives in close coordination and support of command, and all operations programs and activities.

  • Establish requirements and track acquisition and disposition of communication equipment in coordination with logistics.

  • Coordinate communications plans and programs with other staff agencies and with subordinate and higher headquarters.

  • Develop detailed operating procedures for communications operations and guidance to subordinate units and personnel.

  • Collect and report data to determine the effectiveness of communications operations.

  • Coordinate licensing or frequency authorizations for all radio operations.

  • Develop and participate in communications exercises.

  • Coordinate communications conferences, meetings, and workshops.

  • Monitor unit communications.

  • Establish programs to maintain and operate unit radio equipment.

  • Serve as a communications advisor to various staff personnel guiding communications matters.

  • Monitor and assist subordinate unit communications officers.

CAP Directives:

The Director of Communications should be familiar with the following directives:

  • CAPR 60-3

  • CAPR 70-1

  • CAPR 100-1

  • CAPR 100-3

  • CAPP 214

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade of Captain / Technical Sergeant or above.

  • Senior rating in the Communications Specialty Track.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, and working in a Windows environment.

  • Very strong organizational skills and extreme attention to detail.

  • A highly professional demeanor, positive outlook, and a can-do attitude.

  • Reside within the Wing. Infrequent, temporary absences of short duration are permissible

Desired Qualifications:

  • Grade of Major/Master Sergeant or above.

  • Master Rating in the Communications Specialty Track

  • Two years of experience at the Group level.

Selection criteria are based on Civil Air Patrol training, experience, and participation, as well as civilian education and experience related to the position.
