Flight Operations Officer

Reports to:  FLWG/A3DO - Director of Operations

Unit:  SER-FL-001

Reviewing Official:  A3, Chief of Staff

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement operations plans, programs, and directives

  • Establish reporting procedures to determine the success of operations programs.

  • Coordinate operations matters with Group Directors of Operations.

  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures for the control and operation of CAP aircraft.

  • Develop necessary operations policies and procedures to ensure mission accomplishment and to provide adequate guidance to subordinate personnel and units.

  • Assist in the development and recommendation of unit ES and flying procedures.

  • Assist in the establishment of continuing training programs to include, but not limited to, specific flight manual changes, review of FAA Regulations, safety, local operating procedures, aircraft systems and emergency procedures, survival, etc.

The Flight Operations Officer should be familiar with the following directives:

  • CAPR 60-1

  • CAPR 60-3

  • CAPR 60-5

  • CAPR 66-1

  • CAPR 70-1

  • CAPR 77-1

  • CAPR 100-1

  • CAPR 173-1

  • CAPP 211

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade of Captain / Technical Sergeant or above.

  • CAP Pilot

  • Technician rating in the Operations Specialty Track

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, and working in a Windows environment.

  • Very strong organizational skills and extreme attention to detail.

  • A highly professional demeanor, positive outlook, and a can-do attitude.

  • Reside within the Wing. Infrequent, temporary absences of short duration are permissible

Desired Qualifications:

  • Grade of Major / Master Sergeant or above.

  • CAP Check Pilot

  • Master rating in the Operations Specialty Track.

  • Completed Level III or above.

  • Two years experience as Operations Officer at the Group level.

Selection criteria are based on Civil Air Patrol training, experience, and participation, as well as civilian education and experience related to the position.
