Who May Apply:

Active members of Florida Wing. If you don’t meet the requirements stated below, you may still apply, and be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inform and educate state government and the state legislature on CAP activities.

  • Maintain liaison with the state legislature squadron members.

  • Maintain Liaison with state and local government officials including the office of the governor and state agencies.

  • Monitor state and federal legislation on matters affecting CAP within the state

  • Work with local CAP units in support of local government relations.

  • Invite members of the state legislature to join the Wing Legislative Unit

  • Conduct other appropriate duties as assigned by the Wing Commander and coordinate with the Wing Government Relations Advisor

CAP Directives:

The Legislative Squadron Commander should be familiar with the following directives:

  • CAPR 1-1

  • CAPR 30-1

  • CAPR 39-1

  • CAPR 40-1

  • CAPR 60-1

  • CAPR 60-2

  • CAPR 173-4

  • CAPP 3

  • CAPP 110-1

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade of Maj or above

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, and working in a Windows environment.

  • Very strong organizational skills and extreme attention to detail.

  • A highly professional demeanor, positive outlook, and a can-do attitude.

  • Reside within the Wing. Infrequent, temporary absences of short duration are permissible.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Grade of Lt Col or Above.

  • Senior Rating in the Command Specialty Track.

  • Bachelor's degree, or higher in Political Science, Public Administration or Policy, International Relations, or similar fields.

  • Reside in Tallahassee or proximity.

  • Unit Commander’s Endorsement.

Applicants may be asked for a personal or telephonic interview. Upon notification, a mutually convenient time and place will be arranged. Inquiries concerning specific aspects of the duty position should be directed to the Reviewing Official.

Selection criteria are based on Civil Air Patrol training, experience, and participation, as well as civilian education and experience related to the position.
