The wing transportation officer is the single point of contact for all vehicles entrusted to their care. As such, they serve as the wing fleet manager and are responsible for ensuring all vehicles are safe and roadworthy and prepared to support mission needs. They coordinate with other staff members to determine event schedules and anticipate vehicle support requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure that all COVs are licensed and registered annually in accordance with applicable laws of the state, commonwealth, or other local government jurisdiction where vehicles are operated

Are responsible to ensure all FLWG vehicles are equipped with a Florida SunPass

Will be the approving authority to review and approve driver’s license applications

Maintain appropriate records on location of all vehicles

Ensure routine and major maintenance is accomplished and documented on COVs in accordance with manufacturer’s recommended schedules

Is responsible for entering all vehicle maintenance in the wing in ORMS received from units and manages the approval process for all COV’s assigned to FLWG

Assist the wing logistics officer in developing vehicle requirements and in identifying vehicles for disposal

Ensure timely completion of monthly vehicle usage reports (CAPF 73)

Ensure expeditious reporting of vehicle mishaps

The transportation officer should be familiar with CAPR 174-1, CAPP206, CAPR 130-1 and CAPR 130-3. They should also have a good working knowledge of CAP Safety Regulations CAPR 160-1 and CAPR 160-2.
The wing transportation officer reports directly to the DCS.
Desired Qualifications:

Grade of Captain/Master Sergeant or above

Completed Level III or above

Technician Rating in the Logistics Specialty Track

Two years of experience as a Supply officer or Logistics officer at the Group Level

Selection criteria are based on Civil Air Patrol training, experience, and participation, as well as civilian education and experience related to the position.
