Save the Dates for upcoming Cadet Programs Activities.

Special Acts Selection Boards21 to 23 Jan. 2022, held at FL Elks Youth camp

Here is a chance to compete with cadets from across the wing and see how you rank.  There will be a Cadet of the Year chosen from each phase, the legislative day representatives and of course the “green lights” for summer special activities.  Registration and staff applications will open very soon.

Ultimate Cadet Challenge11 to 13 Feb. 2022, held at Camp Blanding

This event will test your teams Emergency Services skills along with your teamwork, drill, CAP knowledge, and physical fitness.  A team of 4 cadets and a senior member escort will represent your squadron in this fun challenge.

Legislative Day – 16 to 20 Feb. 2022, Washington DC

This is the opportunity to meet with members of Congress and let them know the great things CAP is doing.  There will be a day of sight seeing as well.  You must apply for this activity through SASB.

Color Guard Academy4 to 6 Mar. 2022, held at FL Elks Youth camp

Need to brush up on your color guard skills or want to get a team going in your squadron, then this is the activity to attend.  Your team will also learn what it takes to compete in the Cadet Competition.  The two teams to represent the Florida Wing in the SER Cadet Competition will be selected from the teams attending this event.

Florida Leadership Academy – 13 to 15 May 2022, held at FL Elks Youth camp

Cadets wanting to staff summer encampment should attend FLA, this is where you receive the training you will need to be a successful line staff member.  If you previously attended the NCO academy, come back and do the senior NCO or the cadet commanders’ course for officers.

FLWG Members, 

Please join me in welcoming our newest member of the Florida Wing Staff. Lt Col Richard Edward Junk will be assigned as the FLWG Director of Administration. Lt Col Junk has been with CAP for many years in Louisiana and recently moved to Florida. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge in many areas. He completed his Level 5 and he holds master ratings in Administration, Flight Operations, Personnel, Professional Development, Safety, and Standards/Evaluations. He is also a CDI.

FLWG Group 2 Commander Announcement

Florida Wing:

I am pleased to announce Maj Larry R. Spangler has been selected as the next Florida Wing Group 2 Commander.

Maj Spangler first joined CAP in 1981 and currently serves as one of the Group 2 Deputy Commanders. He has completed Level 4 of the Senior member Professional development program and holds numerous master ratings such as Emergency Services, Administration, and Professional Development.

The Group 2 Change of Command ceremony will take place on 4 December 2021.

Welcome to our newest Wing Staff members

FLWG Members, 

Please join me in welcoming our newest FLWG staff members. We are excited that we have such talented people in the FLWG that are willing to take on new tasks and challenges. 

SMSGT Antonio Lima       Command NCO

SMSgt Lima has completed Level V and recently changed from Lt Col to the NCO Corps. He holds a Master Rating in Administration, Professional Development, Cadet Programs, Health Services and Personnel.

Maj Victor Rodriguez      Assistant Director of Finance

Maj Rodriguez has completed Level III and holds a Senior rating in Finance. 

1stLt Nina Burks            Communications Licensing Officer (ADY) 

1stLt Burks has completed Level II and is almost done with her Level III requirements. She is the Commander of SER-FL-259 and holds a Senior rating in Communications.
