DESCRIPTION
Florida Wing Cadet Programs will conduct the Florida STEM Academy at The Florida Elks Youth Camp in Umatilla, Florida, from 7 February to 9 February.
MISSION
The mission of the Florida STEM Academy is to provide an academic forum for cadets to receive instruction through lectures, discussion, and hands-on training in STEM related fields. This weekend will allow cadets to immerse themselves in activities to spark their interest and allow them to explore possible career avenues. Cadets will earn their basic STEM badge upon successful completion of the academy. The instructors will be Senior Members who are Aerospace Education Officers, typically experts in their fields, assisted by cadet instructors.
FEES AND REGISTRATION
The activity fee is $75.00 for each participant. The fee covers all course expenses, including the , meals, and materials. Payment must be made online.

Florida STEM Academy Student Applicants.
Applicants must have the grade of C/SrA or higher. This is one of the requirements for the STEM badge. Cadets not meeting this requirement will not be considered for this course. Students will also be required to complete a STEM career dossier to be turned in when they check into the academy. Details for this may be found in the CAPP 60-41.
Senior Staff Applicants.
The activity director will appoint Senior Member academy staff and instructors. Seniors wanting to instruct should have at least a senior rating in the AE specialty tract. One of the purposes of this class is for those members to work on their master rating.
DATES AND DEADLINES
Activity Date: 7 February to 9 February 2024
05 January 2025: Instructor and staff applications due (senior and cadet)
27 January 2025: Student applications are due.
Full refunds will be available until the suspense date and may be requested via sending an email to cpforms@flwgcap.us. Requests for refunds after the suspense date will be based on the activities' ability to replace the paid-for slot. Refund requests may take as long as 90 days after the end of the activity to process.
UNIFORMS
All members will arrive on Friday in blue jeans and a tan T-shirt or CAP activity shirt. Saturday will start in ABUs, with civilian clothes permitted after class. Sunday’s uniform of the day (UOD) will be in class B blues uniform. Students will be in short sleeves with all ribbons and without a tie. Senior Members will follow the same uniform-of-the-day structure. Saturday will be a utility uniform (ABU, Corporate Utility, or Working Uniform). Sunday’s UOD will be in class B blues uniform or Corporate White Aviator.
ABUs will be needed for this event.
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
Staff: Staff will arrive on Friday at 1600 for facility registration and setup. ** Make sure you eat before arrival **

Graduation:
A graduation ceremony will be held at the Elks Camp at 1200 on 9 February 2025. Parking is available for no charge. Students will be dismissed following the graduation ceremony. There will not be a reception before graduation. Therefore, all guests for graduation are asked to plan their arrival at the facility no earlier than 1100.
